MISSION
Smiles on Wings is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides dental and medical care, humanitarian aid, and educational programming to underserved and underprivileged populations both locally through our clinic, as well as, special missions to Thailand. By providing communities with services, resources, and training, Smiles on Wings not only helps to improve overall health and well-being we promote self-reliance leading to improving society as a whole.
Smiles on Wings sets up free clinics, most recently in Silver Spring MD. However, up to recently, Smiles on Wings has been extensively involved with relief work in response to the Southeast Asia Tsunami of 2004 and has also worked with scores of villages in remote areas in Northern Thailand. Our dental clinics provide on-site treatment, preventive services, training, and oral health education. We set up Education Programs and provide full-tuition for scholarships for select students to achieve higher education. We stay closely in touch and visit our scholars annually to provide in-person support and guidance.

SILVER SPRING, MONTGOMERY COUNTY MD
Smiles on Wings Community Clinic is set up to provide dentistry and oral health services to the underserved and underprivileged communities. Initially, our priority is focused on local senior patients who generally are the most underserved and at-risk within the local demographics. Our clinic is staffed by local dentists volunteering on a rotating schedule. Dental assistants and help staff are our interns who engage in healthcare related studies as well as students from Dental School institutions. These interns and dental assistants come from our local community which directly delivers on our mission providing education and empowerment for the next generation of Dental healthcare providers both here and abroad. Please stay tuned for more on the new Smiles on Wings Dental Healthcare Clinic. |
NORTHERN THAILAND
In the Mae Hong Son and Nan provinces, Smiles on Wings has well established relationships with several communities. We have helped build bathhouses, playgrounds and even engineered water filtration systems for these villages. Smiles provides scholarships to young women in high school and college who dream of becoming health care providers and teachers. The skills and knowledge these students gain enable them to provide long term continuation of services in their home villages. SOUTHERN THAILAND When the devastating tsunami struck Southeast Asia on December 24, 2004, Smiles on Wings arrived in the Phang-nga province within two weeks to provide immediate and direct hands-on relief aid to the victims of the disaster. The people of this region are still in need of relief and Smiles is able to provide it with a grant from the American Dental Association Foundation. |
