Some activities provided by Smiles on Wings. |
There are small villages scattered along the Salween River on the border of Thailand and Burma. Most villagers are of Karen tribe. There are also numerous small and large refugee camps in this region. |
Most villages we visit are accessible by four-wheeled drive only. In the rainy season, chains are required for the vehicles. Due to difficulty in traveling, most villages are isolated from the outside during this season. |
As a request from local schools, educational materials were delivered to the village of Sobmuay and transported by boat. The children came to the harbor to help carry the supplies to school. |
Drs. Norma Fox, Susan Pearson and Nancy Tilkins from Maryland provided dental care to the children in Maesariang, February 2004. |
One of our destinations is Sobmuay Village. From the town of Maesaeiang, it is one hour by car and another hour by boat. |
