THE THAI AND SOUTHEAST ASIAN FLOODING IN RECENT DAYS HAS ONLY TOUCHED
THE MARGINS OF OUR NEWS.  FOR THAILAND, THESE FLOODS COVER SIGNIFICANT
PORTIONS OF HALF THE PROVINCES IN THE COUNTRY AND REPRESENT A DISASTER
OF UNIMAGINABLE PROPORTIONS, THE WORST IN DECADES.

SMILES ON WINGS' THAI BASED TEAM IS READY TO LAUNCH AT THE ONSET OF
THE RECOVERY PHASE, DUPLICATING THE GREAT WORK VOLUNTEERS DID IN
TSUNAMI-RAVAGED PHANG NGA PROVINCE IN 2005.
THE MISSING INGREDIENT IS YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT.  CAN WE ASK YOU TO
CONSIDER AN EXCEPTIONAL DONATION AT THIS TIME?  EXCEPTIONALLY GENEROUS
AND BEYOND THE SUPPORT YOU NORMALLY GIVE TO SMILES ON WINGS OR OTHER
WORTHY CHARITIES.  THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY.

SOW’s Flood Relief Plan, October 2011 – We need your help! Thailand is grappling with the worst flooding in 50 years.

In response to this crisis, our Thai team is moving ahead rapidly with the Smiles on Wings (SOW) Flood Relief Mission. Our Chiangmai-based team of three is preparing survival packs for 80-100 families living in Ayudhaya, an area north of Bangkok where severe flooding has left many families homeless.  The SOW team will leave Chiangmai next week (November 3 or 4) and drive south to reach Ayudhaya. There, they will rent boats to reach the stranded victims and distribute the SOW survival packs to about 100 families. This is our first phase of the relief effort. Smiles on Wings will continue to monitor the situation and provide help as needed. Dr. Bunnag and the team from the U.S. will travel to Thailand in January to carry out the planned mission (one week in Phang-nga, one week in Maehongsorn, and the last week in the central part of Thailand). We will include a visit to the area affected by the flood on our last leg of the mission as well.

SOW Survival Pack - $18 U.S. dollars will provide a family of four the following necessities.

Each survival pack will include
3 liters of water
2 energy drinks
packs of biscuits and crackers (for some who can't cook)
cough tablets
5 packs alcohol towel
4 rolls of toilet paper
sachets of shampoo
toothpaste and brush
anti bacteria powder
5 packs of instant noodles
cooking oil
3 cans of mackerel
2 can of pickles
detergent
fish sauce
3 containers of milk
mosquito lotion + paracetamol + tincture + alcohol + cotton + plaster for fresh wound

The total cost of each survival pack is 540 baht or $18 US Dollars for one family

We are including a blanket with each survival pack as well at $7 each. The pack will contain 100 baht or about $4 cash as well. We also are bringing  40 kg of dog food for the shelter that is taking in dogs left behind by the flood.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated. More families need your help.
