The communities that we serve are always at the heart of any Smiles on Wings project. We choose villages and towns that need us most and concentrate our efforts to provide long-lasting resources to help them to thrive.
- Northern Thailand: In the Mae Hong Son and Nan provinces SOW has well established relationships with several communities. We have helped build bathhouses, playgrounds and even engineered water filtration systems for these villages. SOW provides scholarships to young women in high school and college who dream of becoming health care providers and teachers. The skills and knowledge these students gain enable them to provide long term continuation of services in their home villages. Click to read more about SOW's Humanitarian Projects.
- Southern Thailand:
When the devastating tsunami struck Southeast Asia on Dec. 24, 2004, Smiles on Wings arrived in the Phang-nga province within two weeks to provide immediate and direct hands-on relief aid to the victims of the disaster. The people of this region are still in need of relief and SOW is able to provide it with a grant from the American Dental Association Foundation.
